Services are usually conducted by the Lay Leader, Mike Jarrett, but on occasions by an invited preacher. Tea, coffee and biscuits are shared afterwards.
The services are generally fortnightly but extra services take place on special occasions - our Candlelight Christmas Carol Service is one of our highlights. We also hold special services for naming ceremonies (or blessings of children), weddings (including those of persons previously divorced) and funerals. These special services are constructed according to the wishes of the participants, and are not restricted by any religious dogma or conventions.
The Lay Leader is available for counselling or to give spiritual support at any time. For contact details, see below.
| The present chapel was built in 1721 and still
has the original interior including Flemish oak pillars in the Corinthian
style; the pews and pulpit are also in oak.
There is also an early 18th century candelabra (pictured). |

Known associations include the poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge. Whilst Coleridge was living at Nether Stowey (16 miles away) he came to the chapel to preach on several occasions. The minister at the time was Dr Joshua Toulmin who was unable to take services because he was grieving for the loss of his daughter who had been drowned. It is believed that Wesley also preached in the chapel on two or three occasions when wet weather drove him and his followers indoors.
Another notable is Dr Malachi Blake. He was founder of the 'Taunton and Somerset Hospital' in East Reach, Taunton, in 1809 in celebration of the fiftieth year of George the Third's reign.
